Lionel Scaloni, the coach of the Argentina national football team that won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, received the Best in the International Football Federation’s (FIFA) Best Coach nomination.

In addition to the Argentine player, Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti and Manchester City’s Josep Guardiola won the award.

On February 27, the Argentine Football Federation announced the extension of the contract with Scaloni until 2026. The specialist has been working in the national team since 2017. He was initially on the coaching staff of Jorge Sampaoli and took over the national team in 2018. Under his leadership, Argentine footballers won the Copa America and the World Cup.

Argentina beat France in the World Cup final in Qatar. The two main halves ended with a score of 2:2, the teams scored in extra time and the Argentines were more accurate in the penalty shootout – 4:2.

For the Argentina national team, this victory at the World Cup became the third in history. Prior to that, the Argentines lifted the trophy in 1978 and 1986.

Former Russian midfielder Alexander Golovin commented Contract with Monaco extended. The new agreement runs until 2026. Golovin’s previous contract with Monaco expired in the summer of 2024.
