Spartak beat Lokomotiv and advance to semi-finals of Russian Cup

The rematch of the Russian Premier League’s (RPL) Russian Roads Cup 1/4 final match was played between Spartak and Lokomotiv on 27 February today. The match, held at Otkritie Bank Arena in Moscow, ended with Spartak’s 4:2 victory.

Spartak player Mikhail Ignatov opened the score in the 15th minute. Three minutes later, Lokomotiv midfielder Anton Miranchuk leveled the score on the scoreboard. Midfielder “Spartak” Roman Zobnina once again brought his team to the fore. In the 81st minute, Christopher Martins Pereira doubled Spartak’s lead, but two minutes later Miranchuk again minimized Lokomotiv’s lead. In extra time, Spartak forward Quincy Promes missed a penalty twice, but the referee decided an attempt had to be defeated. Promes understood for the third time.
