Journalist Athletic Sean Mackindo shared his view that Washington Capitals has traded Russian guard Dmitry Orlov to the Boston Bruins.
Washington Capitals and Nashville Predators withdrew. It’s all over. Trading Orlov and Hathaway for an election signals that the Capitals are waving a white flag ahead of a playoff bid. After looking like buyers all year, they’re going to be sellers, and when a team switches sides so close to a deadline, it’s always big news,” Makindo said.
Orlov has been with Capitals since 2011. He won the Stanley Cup as part of the team in 2018. It was reported that the player and the club could not agree on the duration of the new contract.
Orlov has made 43 appearances in the NHL this season, scoring three goals and 19 assists.
Previously reportedAlexander Ovechkin was dissatisfied with the fact that the capital’s leadership replaced Orlov with Boston.
