Washington Capitals put special stickers on the helmets of hockey players in memory of Mikhail Ovechkin, the father of Russian striker Alexander Ovechkin.

The sticker features the words “Papa Ovi”. In this outfit, the “capitals” will play against the Anaheim Ducks in the regular season game of the National Hockey League (NHL). According to NBC Sports reporter Matt Wyrich, the club plans to use these stickers on helmets by the end of the 2022/23 season.

Recall that Ovechkin took a short vacation from the club and flew to Moscow from the United States on February 14. He later announced the death of his father, who died at the age of 72. The 37-year-old hockey player returned to Washington base on February 22.

The Russian player has recorded 32 goals and 22 assists in 54 games this season. Ovechkin has scored 812 goals in his NHL career and is second on the all-time top scorer list.
