Former Czech goalkeeper Dominik Hasek responded to National Hockey League (NHL) commissioner Gary Bettman on social media.
formerly Bettman disagree With a Czech who opposes Russian hockey players to participate in the NHL All-Star Game. Bettman then expressed the view that Hasek’s words did not reflect the position of the Czech people.
“Message to Mr. Bettman. You are wrong! This or very similar opinion is shared by the majority of our country’s citizens, the majority of our Senate, our Prime Minister and the new President. The participation of Russians in competitions is support for Russian propaganda.
This is frustrating. The position of the NHL declares a special operation of Russia (the wording was changed to the official position of the Russian Federation). Responsible for the NHL and its leadership. The league has to pay for this,” it said.
The event was held at Panthers Stadium in Florida. Skill competitions were held on February 3, and matches between divisional teams were held on February 4.
Nine Russian hockey players took part in the “3 by 3” tournament between teams of four divisions. This is a record for the number of domestic athletes represented. The previous record was broken in 1998, when eight Russians participated.
