“A little more and Makhachev would be finished. I shook him with my fist and knocked him down. Then I jumped on him and started punching him. Again, he was just trying to hold on, and even if he tried to hold on, he couldn’t. “I started throwing a few punches and time slipped away from me,” said Volkanovski.
On February 12, Makhachev defeated Volkanovski by unanimous decision after five rounds at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.
This victory for the Russian took the 24th place in his professional career with a loss. He defended his lightweight title for the first time.
