Head of Czech Ice Hockey Federation: You cannot put sport above the situation in Ukraine 23:30

Czech Hockey Federation President Alois Gadamczyk expressed the opinion that the Russian national team should not return to international competitions until the special military operation in Ukraine is over. Transmits words sports.cz.

“I know Russian athletes cannot be blamed, but they are part of the country. It is not possible to return the Russians to international competitions until the special operations are over. “The Russians have always had a quality team, the matches with them were exciting, but you cannot put the sport above the situation in Ukraine,” said Gadamchik.

Recall that the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) decided to exclude Russian hockey players from participation in international tournaments, even with a neutral status, and in 2023 received from Russia the right to host the home junior world championship.

In early July 2022, the IIHF disciplinary committee rejected the Russian Ice Hockey Federation’s (RHF) appeal for admission to international competitions.
