The Czech Olympic Committee does not consider the possibility of boycotting the Olympic Games in Paris if athletes from Russia and Belarus are accepted. It has been reported Ceska Television.
“There can be no boycott from us because we don’t want to punish Czech athletes. The publication reports the words of the Czech committee.
The organization also said that the debate on the reception of Russians and Belarusians has only just begun. However, the last word will be the International Sports Federations.
Recall that several countries took opposing positions. That is why Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Estonia opposed the admission of Russians to the Olympics. The US National Olympic Committee (NOC) did not accept this position.
On January 25, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it is considering the possibility of allowing Russian athletes who do not support the conduct of a special operation on Ukrainian territory to participate in international competitions in a neutral status. Detailed rules will be developed later.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian NOC proposes to create a mechanism for the admission of athletes from Russia to the 2024 Olympics.
