State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina, a three-time Olympic champion in pair skating, commented on the news that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the concept of Russian athletes performing under the neutral flag.
“The athlete has a duty. The state that trains the athlete has a separate duty. The previous decision was made because the athletes violated the regime. We lost a lot of medals, you can’t escape the truth. Now this is a purely political issue. And the IOC has no right to do that,” Rodnina says. “Sports Express”.
Earlier, the IOC reported will not discuss Admission of Russians to tournaments with flag and anthem.
“Flags, anthems, colors or other symbols of Russia and Belarus must not be displayed at any sporting event or forum, including at all venues,” the statement said.
