IOC welcomes Asian Olympic Council’s initiative to admit Russian athletes 21:10

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has welcomed the Asian Olympic Council (OCA) intention to allow Russian athletes to compete in the Asian region. official site IOC.

The IOC statement states that Russian athletes who follow the Olympic Charter and are found not to violate sanctions will be allowed to compete in Asia.

“The IOC welcomed and approved the Asian Olympic Council’s proposal to allow these athletes to compete in Asia,” the IOC said in a statement following the organization’s executive committee meeting.

It was previously reported that the Asian side made an offer to facilitate the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in the competitions in the Asian region of the organization. The IOC is considering this initiative, but the head of the organization, Thomas Bach, did not approve of this proposal.

It should be recalled that at the end of February, the International Olympic Committee recommended to international sports federations not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions.
