Ekaterina Alexandrova became the latest Russian tennis player to be eliminated from the US Open.
In the third round, the Russian woman, ranked 18th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), lost 3:6, 4:6 to Magda Linett, the 45th racket of the world from Poland.
The match lasted 1 hour and 17 minutes.
Alexandrova made two filings, made five double mistakes and also converted two breakpoints. His opponent has written five aces, no double faults and four of the five break points have occurred.
In the 1/8 final, the Polish tennis player will play with the French woman Caroline Garcia, one of the leaders of the WTA rating.
All other Russians who had previously competed in singles left the tournament. Only two representatives of Russia remained in the men’s grid. Karen Khachanov will play Yoshihito Nashioka (Japan) in the 1/8 finals on January 22 and Andrey Rublev against Daniel Evans (England) on January 21.
Recall that Russian tennis players are allowed to compete as neutral athletes, without specifying the country and flag. The tournament’s prize fund will be more than $53.4 million.
