The whites are once again on the hunt for the national title.
Since the Spanish Super Cup was played in 1982, the RealMadrid has disputed 17 finals. And this Wednesday, January 11, it has reached the final of the 2023 edition.
The whites made their debut precisely in that first edition in which they fell against Real Sociedad and had to wait until 1988 to lift it, against FC Barcelona.
That first title kicked off a great run as the next two editions were also won and so on to twelve, the last two now with the current format of four.
Two finals in Arabia
Madrid’s last two Super Cup wins have been in Saudi Arabia. The first in 2020 against Atlético de Madrid and from the penalty spot, and the last, last year, after a 2-0 win over Athletic Club.
As of today, the Concha Espina club is looking for its 13th Super Cup, but for that they have to lose Betis or Barcelona in the final. It will be the eighteenth edition in which he competes for the title.
