Dmitry Svishchev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sport, believes that the Union of European Football Federations (UEFA) and the International Football Federation (FIFA) want Russian football players to be admitted to international tournaments.
“I think we have problems. My opinion: the process will be long. The problem is not in UEFA, FIFA and RFU. All these organizations want us to play. They would even include us tomorrow. The problem is in countries that do not see us. First of all, these are Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic countries.
Therefore, I am of the opinion that the implementation process of the program to reintegrate Russian football into international football will be postponed,” said Svishchev. “Rating bookmakers”.
Recall that FIFA and UEFA decided to exclude all Russian clubs, as well as the Russian national team, from participating in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
In early January, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) finally dismissed the Russian side’s appeal. Domestic clubs and the national team missed the whole of 2022.
It was previously reported that Bulgarian club Levski may cancel matches with Russian teams due to fans’ request.
