Former Spartak head coach Massimo Carrera commented on the Russian Football Union’s (RFU) decision to form a working group with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Transmits words “RB Sports”.

“I believe RFU has made the right decision – this gives hope that the issue will be resolved soon. I believe that the transition to AFC will not benefit Russian football. “I believe Russia will sooner or later return to European competition,” Carrera said.

Recall that the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA decided to exclude the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participating in all competitions controlled by these organizations.

The Russian national team has not played its official matches since November 2021, when it participated in the World Cup qualifiers in Qatar.

The issue of transition to the Asian Conference in the autumn began to be actively discussed. It is worth noting that revenue from performances in Asia will be significantly lower than in Europe. In total, the organization consists of 47 national teams. This confederation hosts the Asian Cup, AFC Champions League and AFC Cup.

Olga Smorodskaya, ex-president of Lokomotiv spoke categorically against the transition of RFU to AFC.
