Former Juventus and Uruguay midfielder Fabian O’Neill has died. He was 49 years old. The Uruguayan Football Federation was the first to announce the death of the former football player.

By ESPN, the football player died the previous day after being admitted to the Uruguayan CTI Medical Center due to serious problems caused by his chronic liver disease. He fell into a coma with stomach bleeding and was hospitalized and died in the intensive care unit.

According to the family of the deceased, the funeral will not be held.

O’Neal’s entire life has been associated with alcohol addiction. The former football player had cirrhosis of the liver.

O’Neill is a graduate of Uruguayan Nacional. He moved to Italy in 1996. He first played for Cagliari for four years, then became a Juventus player. He also has 19 matches for the Uruguay national team. In 2002, O’Neal was included in the World Cup squad in Japan and South Korea. However, he could not take part in the matches due to his Achilles tendon injury.
