Steam Deck designers Lawrence Young and Pierre-Loup Griffais spoke to the media about what to expect from the upcoming Steam Deck model and what will happen with the current version.
The company plans to release updates for the device while it has an audience, as well as fix issues that arise with the console. According to Yang, there are two task lists: tasks with bugs experienced by users and tasks with planned improvements. It is because of the large number of bugs that the team has switched to monthly releases of updates, and they themselves are downloaded in the background.
The new model gets a better screen and longer battery life. The performance will remain almost at the same level, that is, they do not plan to change the hardware. The company wants to wait for the release of new processors that will be more powerful.
Aside from this, Valve plans to return to the Steam Controller and release a second version, but there are no details yet. Software improvements are also planned, such as the integration of an audio mixer, Bluetooth codec selection in game mode and even the arrival of mobile games.
Valve noted that they are not against releasing mobile hits on Steam Deck, but this would require changes to the store. 🩸 Indie developers create a brutal slasher with a sexy heroine
