Why doesn’t Toni Kroos play the World Cup in Qatar 2022 with the German national team?
The former Bayern Munich midfielder announced in July 2021, through an official statement on his social networks, that he would be leaving his national team after the elimination days before against England, for the round of 16 of the euros 2021.
The experienced midfielder He left his national team to focus solely on his career at Real Madrid after making 106 appearances for Germany and scoring 17 goals.
Kroos’ great success was the 2014 World Cup, when they won the title in Brazil under the guidance of Joachim Low. Of course he resisted winning the Eurocup, where he was killed in 2012, 2016 and 2021.
As an international, the Bayern Munich-raised footballer has played in 3 World Cups, 3 Euro Cups and 1 Confederations Cup since his debut in March 2010 under Joachim Löw, who has been his coach throughout his career.
Kroos posted an emotional letter on social networks saying goodbye and explaining his decision:
“I have played 106 times for Germany. There will be no more. I would have loved it, and I did everything I could again, that in the end there would have been 109 international matches and that this great title, the Eurocup title, would the end has come.
I had already made the decision to retire after this tournament. It had been clear to me for some time that I would not be available for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Especially because I want to fully concentrate on my goals with Real Madrid in the coming years. From now on I consciously allow myself breaks that I haven’t had as an international for eleven years. And I also want to be a husband and father to my wife and three children for a long time.
It was a great honor for me to wear this jersey for so long. I did it with pride and passion. Thank you to all the fans and supporters who supported and supported me with their applause and cheers. And thanks to all critics for their extra motivation.
Finally, I would especially like to thank Jogi Löw. It made me an international player and world champion. He trusted me. We have long written a success story. It was an honor, take care, and good luck and success for Hansi Flick.”
