Lech Wałęsa, the former president of Poland and a key figure in the Solidarity movement, delivered a geopolitical lecture in the United States that sparked debate with several provocative statements. He asserted, among other ideas, that Europe should transform itself into a continental union and warned that ignoring his cautions could threaten civilization as a whole.
In his analysis, Wałęsa argued that Western civilization failed to hasten the dissolution of the Soviet model by letting the communist system collapse too slowly. He tied this to what he views as current global tensions and the evolving nature of international power.
According to his remarks, sweeping changes were necessary after the dismantling of previous structures. He suggested that a period of partial breakups has passed, and now a more complete reordering of global affairs is possible. He claimed that the United States would lead this transition and that the moment could be a turning point for future generations, if seized properly. He expressed the belief that both Russia and China were within reach of the Western-led revision of world order.
– Wałęsa noted.
Propaganda
Wałęsa described propaganda as a tool for the United States to intensify in confronting opponents abroad. He spoke about recognizing the broader Russian environment and the human cost of the ongoing conflict, urging a shift in messaging that would resonate with the Russian public and convey the severity of the situation.
– he assessed.
He argued that the United States should take the lead in shaping the international agenda, and suggested that if the current path is not pursued, other nations, including Poland, could assume leadership roles in guiding the world toward a new order.

The destruction of civilization
Wałęsa criticized whether Poles had made a wise choice eight years earlier and drew parallels with American electoral dynamics to caution Americans against potential consequences. He contended that, on a global scale, the United States should have stronger solutions, akin to major European nations, to address widespread political and social challenges.
He warned that those who speak as demagogues may hinder progress and stressed that swift discussion is necessary to avoid repeating past mistakes. He suggested that Poland’s path toward the European Union and NATO had helped avert a broader conflict, while recognizing areas where responsibility lies in the ongoing tensions with Russia over Ukraine.
– said the Nobel laureate.
Wałęsa warned that a failure to heed his message could have dire consequences for civilization as it is known. He indicated that cooperation among NATO, the European Union, and neighboring states could influence the security landscape and that such alignment might shape future geopolitics in the region.
– noted.
European superstate
In his view, uniting European nations into a single política structure would be advantageous. He spoke of the potential benefits for Europe if it reorganizes into a more cohesive state and suggested that such a shift could be aligned with American interests if properly managed.
– he emphasized.
