Valencia’s regional leadership, led by Generalitat chairman Ximo Puig, announced that the Valencian Community has already allocated 3,180 million euros. The European New Generation EU funds, routed through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR), are being monitored for substantial progress in the absorption of these resources by the region. This is a key signal that the program’s milestones are on track and that investments are moving from planning to real-world impact across the Valencian economy.

During a subsequent briefing, Puig noted that the evaluation meeting was attended by senior figures including Joan Calabuig, regional secretary for European Union and Foreign Relations, and Juan Ángel Poyatos, director generals for Government Coordination; Relations with the EU and the State; Daría Terrádez and European Funds; and Andreu Iranzo. The gathering underscored the collaborative effort to maximize the use of MRR resources and align them with regional priorities. Source: Valencian Government briefing

European funds in the province of Alicante and the city of Elche have taken a leading role, with the region accounting for a significant share of the aid. Puig stressed that the Generalitat is actively working to ensure these resources reach all parts of the Community. To that end, more than 330 personnel have been mobilized to assist small and medium enterprises and municipal councils in presenting projects designed to capitalize on these funds, with the total potential exceeding three thousand million euros and ongoing enhancements expected in the months ahead. In housing, the Recovery Plan highlights the PIREP initiative, which targets autonomous communities with substantial financing of 51 million euros for the Valencian Community. The program is designed to support sustainable rehabilitation of public buildings and ensure safer, more efficient living and working spaces. These improvements cover health, education, and social care facilities throughout Valencia, including notable public buildings such as the Center of Historical Memory in Alicante, the Post Office building in Castelló de la Plana, and the Museu de les Ciències in Valencia. On the environmental front, funds directed to the Generalitat are advancing self-consumption across multiple sectors. Initiatives prioritize financing and deployment of renewable energy sources for residential users, public administrations, and third-sector organizations, with a broader aim of decarbonizing the economy. These efforts align with national and European climate targets, supporting a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for households and public services alike.
