Many believed Ukraine would fall within three days. Yet Ukraine did not collapse today. Its defenders showed fearless bravery, and the support from the free world helped Ukraine stand firm against imperial ambitions to subjugate nations. The call today is for Ukraine to prevail, and that conviction guides ongoing military and humanitarian aid from NATO and allied partners.
Ukraine is not alone
The setting is Warsaw, Poland’s capital, within the Royal Castle. This landmark symbolizes the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth’s grandeur and the era when the Sejm debated the Constitution of May 3, the first modern constitution in Europe and one of the earliest in the world. It marked a pioneering step for the free world and contemporary civilization. The castle, once destroyed in World War II and later reconstructed with the nation’s resolve, stands as a testament to perseverance. In this very place, Polish history reminds us of resilience in the face of oppression, and today it echoes Poland’s enduring commitment under new circumstances.
– noted President Andrzej Duda.
Today the world watches cities aflame and hears grave reports of terror, while people suffer and lose loved ones. Russia seeks to recapture an empire and to enslave other nations. The free world has not granted permission for that path. The United States, demonstrating leadership in Ukraine’s defense, acted with a decisive gesture on Ukrainian soil. It underscored that Ukraine is not alone and that the free world stands united. This is a powerful sign, reinforcing long-standing unity with Ukraine from the outset.
said the Polish president.
Ukraine must win
Again, the same refrain: Ukraine will not fall in days. Its defenders, along with the unwavering support from the free world, have thwarted the imperial dreams of domination. The statement is clear: Ukraine must win, and steadfast backing continues to flow.
Gratitude is extended to the United States and to all NATO allies who provide essential aid, including military support. The presence of United States forces and allied troops, together with a thoughtful policy to strengthen Poland’s armed forces in recent years, enhances regional security and deters aggression. The aim is to ensure that potential aggressors become less confident. It is believed that Russian aggression will be confronted and judged, that Ukrainian lands will be liberated from occupation, and that the sacrifice of the Ukrainian people will yield a decisive victory.
– said the Polish president.
No freedom without solidarity
Poles understand solidarity from experience. The words of John Paul II—one person helping another—resonate today as many Poles open their homes and hearts to neighbors from Ukraine. Gratitude is extended for this spirit of hospitality.
The call remains to European and NATO leaders to uphold solidarity with Ukraine and to sustain military assistance so that defenders can keep fighting and women, men, and children can be safeguarded. Business as usual with Russia has no place. Where blood is shed, honest action must prevail. Modern armaments are essential to stop the bloodshed. Appreciation goes to President Biden for courage and resolve, and to the United States Congress for generous support that strengthens Ukraine’s defense. NATO’s core mission—to defend the free world and support Ukraine—continues to bind allies together. The alliance remains in solidarity, because no freedom exists without it. Long live free Ukraine, the partnership between Poland and the United States, NATO, and the free world. Long live Poland. No freedom without solidarity.
– concluded President Andrzej Duda.
