The government continues to host military picnics, echoing a tradition linked to the rule of law, despite previous sharp criticism. According to PiS MP Antoni Macierewicz, the events consume more funds than ever, yet no positive outcomes are anticipated. “This is pure propaganda, not a pro-social or pro-military effort. After all, they undermine the army’s professional projects,” stated the former Minister of National Defense in an interview with wPolityce.pl.

Former head of the Ministry of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak highlighted on social media that the governing coalition organized military picnics even though they had fiercely condemned the United Right administration for similar moves.

As Antoni Macierewicz, a former Defense Minister, argues in his interview with wPolityce.pl, the picnics under the previous government would not yield the intended military benefit because their aims diverged entirely.

We sought to show the public that the armed forces are protected and backed by clear security guarantees. Picnics helped reinforce the perceived bond between the army and society. They also contributed to a steady increase in troop numbers.

– Macierewicz explains.

They are now brutally attacking WOT

On the occasion of Polish Army Day, a festival featuring military bands was held in Sieradz. A deputy minister from the Civic Platform hails from the Sieradz constituency.

I doubt they can guarantee such a strong military presence at these events. They represent a group that attacks territorial forces in a brutal and scandalous way, with these attacks reportedly emanating from Civic Platform circles. This undermines the positive social activity that has been achieved.

– reminds the Member of Parliament for Law and Justice.

They are likely to spend more money, while social and military involvement is expected to be much smaller. All their propaganda about PiS is false. They are repeating some of the same actions, but without producing tangible results. Instead of increasing troop numbers, they appear to reduce them. They fail to fulfill the functions that mattered to the prior administration, namely strengthening the army to about 200,000 soldiers. This marks the fundamental difference. It seems to be government propaganda rather than an effort to raise the army’s potential and size.

– emphasizes the former head of the Military Counterintelligence Service, noting the broad spending on this propaganda effort.

Financial resources are being allocated far beyond what the PiS government did. It is described as propaganda rather than a pro-social or pro-military venture, he adds.

– concludes Antoni Macierewicz, explaining why he remains critical of the Tusk coalition’s initiatives related to the army.

They target territorial forces, dismiss key officers, and undermine the project to expand the army while tying it to social networks. The aim, according to him, is to ensure that the Polish people feel protected and not threatened by a Russian attack.

– notes the former head of the Ministry of National Defense.
