The Witches House in Alicante is abuzz with activity. It was shut down during the first three years of the regional legislature, not left vacant, but the government’s provincial agenda has grown sharper in focus. Last week, as many as three ministers and a regional secretary conducted study sessions in these rooms. All signs point to this momentum continuing with the political term resuming in September. The aim is to make the manager’s work in Alicante more visible and to strengthen ties with the social fabric, a strategy meant to broaden the state’s reach. The Botànic coalition is projecting itself toward a third term, including the initials of its three partner parties. At this stage of the legislature, election-season movements are gaining prominence in a visible way.

Josefina Bueno is with Juan Ángel Poyatos.

On Monday, Rebeca Torró, the Minister for Regional Policy, met with Orihuela’s mayor Carolina Gracia and Rafal’s mayor Manuel Pineda. On Tuesday, Toñi Serna, the regional secretary for Cooperation and Democratic Quality, met with representatives of the Civic Commission for Recovering the Historical Memory of Alicante. On Wednesday, Josefina Bueno, the Minister of Innovation, met with Juan Ángel Poyatos, the Director General for Coordination of Government Action. On Thursday, Mireia Molla, the Minister for Regional Ecological Transition, met with Tabarca Cultural Association and the Tabarca Isla Plana Neighborhood Association. Looking back a year, a Consell member used to attend meetings weekly. There is ample space for gatherings and agendas, and the movement continues to grow.

On another note, Mireia Molla’s engagement with neighborhood associations in Tabarca remains a steady thread in the schedule. The routine shows a steady cadence of meetings at the Consell’s Alicante headquarters, with colleagues from the government coordinating around the city. The energy around these sessions underscores a widening footprint in urban and regional governance, and the push to keep social groups engaged is clear.

The head of Innovation, the only Alicante-based councilor, opened the campaign in June by announcing his candidacy as the regional delegate for the Consel. His plan centers on meeting with social groups and acting as a conduit to the president, Ximo Puig, while boosting his visibility. Bueno is seen as a possible mayoral candidate for the PSPV in Alicante, alongside Ana Barceló, the party’s Cortes representative. Crevillentina’s rise to vice presidency within the Consell has accelerated her agenda, and Compromís is eyeing the province after its first month in the leadership under Mónica Oltra. Valencia, which topped the party’s regional list in the last elections, maintains a tightly scheduled presence in Alicante on Mondays and Tuesdays. Casa de las Brujas serves as one of the ministry’s venues where issues on Equality and Inclusive Policies are presented, reinforcing the goal of a high-profile, city-centered leadership. The focus remains on acronyms and meetings at the Consell’s Alicante hub, where coordination with neighborhood institutions continues to shape the week. Serna, meanwhile, has not dominated the Consell building in the same way, maintaining a different pattern of engagement.

With Toñi Serna and Antonia Moreno, Civil Commission of Historical Memory.

Antonia Moreno, the regional director of the Generalitat Presidency, explains that the renovation of this area is the first major reform in three decades. The project updates accessibility features and refreshes the space to make it a more attractive place for public and private sector work. All indicators suggest that Casa de las Brujas could become the political epicenter of Alicante in the near term, consolidating regional governance in a historically significant building.
