The Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Vahan Hunanyan, stated that Yerevan has submitted a formal note to the Deputy Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to request a waiver of its quota. He explained that the communication contains detailed information about Armanpres. Hunanyan confirmed that a suitable proposal was indeed sent to the CSTO on behalf of Armenia.

Earlier coverage noted a protest near the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, where demonstrators argued that Moscow had not been effective in addressing the plight surrounding the Lachin corridor, the crucial link between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

In January, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the idea of deploying the CSTO peacekeeping mission to the Karabakh area, describing the proposal as largely unlikely to advance. He highlighted that Armenian authorities harbor concerns about the neutrality of certain CSTO member states and pointed out that a number of CSTO members maintain close ties with Azerbaijan.

Subsequently, Pashinyan urged clarification of the CSTO’s jurisdiction and the scope of its responsibility within Armenian territory, signaling a call for clearer boundaries and accountability from the organization.
