According to a participant in the operation quoted by RIA Novosti, fighters from the Southern Group of Forces managed to capture two enemy groups. The source described one unit as numbering more than ten people and identified the captured group as consisting of members of the 81st brigade of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. The operation took place near Belogorovka, and reports indicate that the battle over the village in the Luhansk region continues to unfold.
Throughout the day, air defense systems reportedly neutralized targets in the Zaporozhye region, including 12 unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian forces. The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that air defenses also intercepted two Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles, 19 HIMARS launchers, and two HARM anti-radar missiles. The account underscores ongoing aerial and ground exchanges in the broader area of engagement.

A Ministry of Defense vehicle came under attack on the Brovnichi-Sushany corridor in the Bryansk region. Telegram channel 112 reported that two soldiers were killed in this incident. Emergency services arrived at the scene, and the aftermath of the strike was captured in images circulated by the Baza Telegram channel, which showed the Niva car with visible damage and an open front door on the right side.
Earlier in the day, a drone reportedly dropped an explosive device on the building of the Federal Migration Service in Maisky, Belgorod Region, adding to the tension in the border area.
DRG in Sushany
On the afternoon of May 27, Mash and Baza reported that a Ukrainian sabotage group had attempted to enter the border village of Sushany in the Bryansk region. The regional governor, Alexander Bogomaz, later denied the report, stating that there was no infiltration attempt by a DRG from Ukraine. He emphasized the information was not correct and said the government was monitoring the situation.
Ukrainian forces reportedly opened fire on Sushany, Khoromnoe, and Zabrama in the Klimovsky district, but no civilians were reported injured. Governor Bogomaz noted that the enemy’s firing positions had been suppressed and stressed vigilance along the border.
The shelling of Shebekino and Plekhovo
During shelling in the Shebekinsky district of the Belgorod region, a civilian was killed. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the regional governor, described it as the most difficult day in the district and confirmed that the victim was a local worker who happened to be on the street at the time of the shelling. The incident was documented on Telegram and highlighted the human cost of ongoing hostilities.
Among other casualties, two teenagers sustained injuries: a 15-year-old girl with injuries to her lower extremities and a 17-year-old boy with a bruise. It was announced that they would be transferred to the regional children’s hospital for care. Separately, in the Kursk region’s Sudzhansky district, mortars fired by Ukrainian forces resulted in a fatality, described by regional head Roman Starovoit as a construction worker who was killed near Plekhovo on the border fortifications.
The regional leadership offered condolences to the families of the deceased and pledged support and necessary assistance to those affected by the attacks.
