Total Tax Management is set to apply a discount on the rate charged to provincial municipalities for tax administration and collection, a move that will free up more than half a million euros in municipal budgets. The Board of Directors unanimously approved lowering the total tax collection rate from 2.3% to 2.2% for the rest of the year, a change that now awaits formal approval at the Alicante Provincial Council plenary session.

Carlos Mazón, head of the state agency, stated, “An outcome of strategic resource optimization and the efficiency gains achieved by Suma after a clear commitment to innovation and digitalization allows us to reduce what municipalities pay to the institution for tax management.”

He added that the cut, which covers taxes such as IBI, IAE, and IVTM, will save municipalities about 588,000 euros in the current year. This relief can be redirected to fund essential needs, including facility improvements and enhanced municipal services.

More than 114,000 taxpayers benefited from SUMA’s payment facilities in 2021.

On behalf of the organization, the deputy tax authorities and María Gómez, vice-president, highlighted that the reduction “validates the comprehensive management model implemented by Suma and reinforces its leadership in tax collection nationwide.”

“The adoption of process reengineering, the deployment of new technological tools, and the commitment of the human team have enabled meaningful savings without compromising service excellence,” commented José Antonio Belso, director of Suma.
