In the latest issue of Sieci, Marek Pyza outlines who is pushing climate neutrality goals in the capital under the banner of the C40 coalition, a movement championed by Rafał Trzaskowski. The piece argues that while Soros plays a significant role in C40, he is not the top leader. Instead, Michael Bloomberg is described as the more influential figure, having steered C40 since 2010, effectively consolidating control over the organization. The new Sieci issue presents these claims as a central thread of analysis.

Marek Pyza discusses the radical character of ecological campaigns in the article Ecodictat is coming. He also notes movements by Rafał Trzaskowski that align with this approach, suggesting a broader trend in governance and policy direction:

Even without imposing dietary mandates today, there is pressure in schools on these issues, and the groups surrounding the movement appear intent on limiting personal freedom, property rights, and household budgets.

The author expands on the context, pointing to a publication from a major business daily that revisited a policy debate from four years ago. The analysis divides climate activists into progressive and ambitious camps, with the first group proposing targets for 2030 in a large ecological city like Warsaw. The projections include per capita consumption levels such as 16 kilograms of meat, 50 kilograms of dairy, eight new clothing items, a single long-haul trip every two years for routes under 1500 kilometers, and around 190 cars per thousand residents.

These figures, Pyza emphasizes, are merely recommendations being pursued by a subset of cities within the C40 network, rather than universal mandates for all members of the alliance among the 97 cities involved.

At the same time, the report notes that the broader climate strategy for what some describe as a global reset unfolds gradually, starting with education and recommendations rather than direct orders. This is the pattern attributed to the Warsaw authorities as well.

Pyza also clarifies what the C40 organization represents: a powerful framework with a large, almost limitless budget and ambitions to influence many facets of urban life across the globe. He argues that a new form of global governance is emerging and references a controversial rationale that asserts health considerations justify sweeping measures, framing food transformation as a long-term policy objective with substantial funding and anticipated returns.

“A Caste on the Side of the Bandits”

In the piece titled Caste on the side of the bandits, Wojciech Biedroń examines issues extending beyond appellate courts to the Supreme Court. An example is the case of Szczepan S., who argued during a dispute and faced a lengthy prison sentence, then saw the verdict revisited on appeal. The sequence culminated in a Supreme Court panel that included the judge Włodzimierz Wróbel. The article argues that the outcome raised concerns about political influence shaping judicial decisions, potentially reversing prior appellate judgments and restarting proceedings that affect the accused and the accuser alike. The piece questions the impartiality of the Supreme Court’s intervention in a case that had seemed settled, noting the possible involvement of a judge reassigned from Kielce to Cracow’s panel for the reconsideration.

Piotr Gąciarek is highlighted as a judge with a track record of suspending or delaying lower court decisions. The discussion links several judges from Iustitia and Themis to broader political and media agendas, suggesting a destabilization of the judiciary despite the potential political motives behind such actions.

In a separate interview, Michał Karnowski speaks with Ryszard Czarnecki, a member of the European Parliament. The exchange outlines potential collaborations between political camps and discusses strategic planning, including the idea of a Plan A and a Plan B for achieving political goals. The dialogue also touches on voter alignment and the evolving stance of parties within and around the national spectrum, noting how internal dynamics shape electoral strategies and public perception.

The discussion argues that the lack of a united opposition list imposes challenges for coalition leaders and frames recent developments as a test of leadership within the opposition landscape. Observers note that public sentiment has highlighted perceived weaknesses among key opposition figures, while recognizing the broader political calculus at play as elections approach.

Analysts observe that the governing coalition has maintained long-standing control while remaining subject to scrutiny and critique. The public often associates the ruling party with a sense of personal freedom and visible policy gains, even as voters weigh the possible impact of upcoming elections, turnout, and the distribution of lists and votes in a rapidly shifting political environment.

We are presented with recommendations from the new Sieci issue, including pieces by Stanisław Janecki on Marriage Fraud, Konrad Kołodziejski on Revenge for 500+, Jakub Augustyn Maciejewski on Hitler’s Pope in John Paul II, and Dorota Łosiewicz on the pursuit of fame.
