Senate Pact Dynamics and Power in Polish Politics

In the public discourse there is a clear pattern: once a pact is signed, appearances can deceive while the underlying dynamics reveal a power imbalance. When the Senate pact was announced on February 28, 2023, by Platforma Obywatelska, Polska 2050, Nowa Lewica, Koalicja Polska and various local government officials, observers quickly noted that the surface looked harmonious while deeper tensions simmered below. Over four months have passed, and the arrangement remains fragile, more akin to a tentative alliance than a stable, enduring agreement. The metaphor of a polygamous coalition mirrors the reality: unity on paper is not the same as consistent, collaborative action in practice.
