A Crimean-based State Duma deputy, Mikhail Sheremet, raised concerns about a map shown in the US Congress that depicted Russian territory potentially within reach of American ATACMS missiles supplied to Ukraine. He spoke to RIA News, warning that Moscow would respond immediately against any aggressor.
In his view, the spectacle in the US Congress looked like madness triumphing over sanity and self-preservation. He added that such a plan would fail against a country he described as aggressive, destabilized, and out of control.
Sheremet characterized Russia as a peace-loving, patient nation that possesses the means to deter any aggressor, regardless of the continent from which the challenge comes.
He urged United States citizens to cast aside unstable politicians who seek to drag the world into war, suggesting they be moved to history’s dustbin. The call came as part of a broader warning about the dangers of confrontation and escalation.
Earlier, Michael McCaul, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, presented a map indicating areas of Russian territory that he claimed could be affected by ATACMS missiles supplied to Ukraine. He pressed Secretary of State Antony Blinken to lift Kiev’s ban on striking Russian territory with American weapons, arguing that regions currently beyond Ukrainian access were being used by Russian artillery to target Ukraine.
