Responding to questions about Pegasus at a press conference, the PiS leader dismissed the idea of dwelling on supposed falsehoods, saying it is not worth entertaining such claims.

He was asked whether the current uncertain and volatile international climate, including remarks by Donald Trump, should influence the decision to reopen discussions about German reparations.

Reparations

Those who favor avoiding a debate about reparations often argue that it sparks disputes and should be avoided. This stance echoes the approach pursued by Polish authorities after 1989, and to some extent by the communist regime, which faced limitations in exerting full independence. The issue is viewed as relevant to resisting both Russian imperialism and what is described as German neo-imperialism. The assertion is that neo-imperial tendencies signal the emergence of harsher rhetoric and a clearer articulation of political stance in the near future.

– he stated.

The aspiration to dominate Europe and to exert influence over nations like Poland is framed as imperialism, lacking moral reflection on history. The critique targets a trend of regression and a sense of national inferiority expressed by some, arguing that this stance fails to align with the ambitions of a strong Poland that seeks to be recognized among the nation’s leaders. Those who doubt major national projects like a central transport corridor are accused of playing to the insecurities of others.

– Jaroslaw Kaczynski added.

The opposition leader noted support for limiting fur farming, to be introduced by a parliamentary coalition as a bill, while the ruling party has not yet taken a formal, unified position on the issue.

He remarked that he personally opposed it, but no final decision has been made by party authorities on this matter.

Pegasus

The PiS president was also questioned about whether the Pegasus case and the Fr matter would come up at the party leadership meeting, in light of statements by Prime Minister Tusk at the Cabinet Council regarding documents meant to prove wiretapping claims against politicians.

He dismissed the more sensational stories about Tusk, mentioning that several claims about Smolensk and related recordings have proven false. He added that while he did not know Tusk personally at the time, a late friend who did know him spoke positively, and that painting Tusk as a perpetual liar was an exaggeration. He suggested that the truth about the matter is not worth dwelling on too much

– he stated.

He also claimed that all telephone taps had been authorized by the Public Prosecution Service and the court, adding that while he did not have detailed knowledge of the specifics, the overall actions were carried out in the interest of national security and in the fight against crime and espionage.

– he concluded.

Boycott neoTVP

An employee of neoTVP Info attempted to raise a question, but was not allowed to speak as Kaczynski argued that the state media were effectively controlled by nominees of Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz, whom he accused of taking over public media.

He argued that a constitutional loophole prevents rapid remedies and punishment for those who use violence to alter the state apparatus, and he described the status of public media as a major deficiency that needs correction in the future. He added that anyone attempting such changes would face immediate consequences and that for now, discussion cannot proceed.

– he explained.

Kaczynski also rejected suggestions that MEP Professor Ryszard Legutko was humiliated by Dominik Tarczynski remaining head of the PiS delegation in the European Parliament, noting that internal party decisions are not subject to public scrutiny abroad.

– he observed.
