So far, about 740 thousand people have submitted requests to participate in online voting for the presidential elections in Russia. This figure was shared by the Central Election Commission and reflects growing interest in remote voting across the federation. The Mobile Voter application has already accounted for 160 thousand of those requests, indicating that many citizens expect to cast ballots while not being at their home address on voting days but at another location within the country.
The CEC noted that more than 740 thousand requests have been made to enable voting in regions where remote electronic voting will take place. The next presidential elections in Russia are scheduled to be held over a three-day period, with remote voting facilities planned in a substantial number of regions in addition to the traditional polling format. This multi-format approach aims to increase accessibility for citizens who are away from their homes during the election period and for those living abroad.
As of the start of the year, the country counted more than 112.3 million eligible voters, with abroad participation exceeding 1.89 million voters. A CEC member commented that there are 276 polling stations operating outside Russia, spread across 143 foreign countries. Among them, seven facilities are located in Baikonur, Kazakhstan, underscoring the international footprint of the voting infrastructure.
In related discussions, the Central Election Commission has also addressed how funds allocated to presidential candidates are managed, emphasizing transparency in the election financing process. The evolving landscape of voting methods, including remote electronic voting, continues to shape how citizens participate in the electoral process and how election authorities plan and execute the logistics of a nationwide election.
