The chief of the President’s Office, Marcin Mastalerek, told RMF FM that the police operation conducted the day before yesterday at the Presidential Palace involved as many as fourteen officers. He stated that there is no one more concerned about parliamentarians than the president, and he reassured the public of the president’s continued vigilance.

According to Mastalerek, the police actions stemmed from frustration over their earlier inability to arrest Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, prior to the afternoon of January 9, when President Duda met with former leaders of the Central Anticorruption Bureau.

The police were aware of the plan. They did not execute it, and their apparent frustration grew. Mastalerek suggested they endured a period of hesitation and, in his view, did what they could to stage a show of action.

– he remarked.

Minister Mastalerek also addressed the possibility that President Andrzej Duda might grant another act of mercy in this matter.

The president stands firm on his position. Yet, from a legal standpoint, the case has not yet reached its conclusion.

– he added.

The case remains open, he noted.

“The president is prepared.”

Mastalerek emphasized that the President of the Republic of Poland remains deeply involved in the fate of detained supporters of the Law and Justice party. He added that the head of state has a plan for handling the situation and is actively considering his options.

He pointed out that the president has met with lawmakers on multiple occasions. He also noted that Kamiński’s wife publicly stated on TV Republika that she should be allowed to petition for a pardon because Kamiński never pursued a second pardon.

– he explained.

He refused to disclose the president’s next steps publicly, but stressed that a deliberate plan exists and that the president is fully aware of what to do next.

The presidential minister also commented on Jan Rokita’s column in Political Teologia, where Rokita criticized the state’s handling of Kamiński and Wąsik, portraying it as unprecedented and revolutionary. Mastalerek suggested Rokita’s words reflected significant concerns about the rule of law and the government’s approach.
