A strong commitment was reaffirmed to support Poland’s rural areas and its farmers, stated today by MEP Beata Szydło during a meeting in Proszowice in Lesser Poland. She emphasized that the government has concrete plans for the countryside that are already being put into action.
The former prime minister spoke with residents at the agricultural fair in Proszowice, a gathering where growers from the region showcase their crops and exchange ideas about local farming.
During a PiS convention focused on rural concerns in Przysucha, Deputy Prime Minister and party chairman Jarosław Kaczyński and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Robert Telus, outlined proposals intended for Polish farmers. These proposals were described as specific steps the government is pursuing to support rural communities.
Szydło explained that rural action has a dual aim: to foster growth in towns and cities while also safeguarding the country’s food security.
Her message was clear: Polish villages should develop and enjoy the same growth opportunities as urban areas, with strong infrastructure and access to all government projects designed to boost rural life.
– Szydło stated.
Sustainable development
She pointed to the Proszowice agricultural fair as a practical example of how farmers can enhance food security. The fair highlights local products and serves as a platform for growers to connect, collaborate, and take advantage of government-funded programs aimed at developing smaller towns.
Our aim is steady, fair, and inclusive development that lets large cities grow while giving smaller centers equal footing. This approach focuses on ensuring opportunities are accessible to all communities, not just the largest urban centers.
– Szydło emphasized, noting that the plans are not merely rhetoric but are being reflected in concrete proposals and actions intended for local authorities.
She underscored the essential role of Polish farmers in national progress, saying, “without Polish farmers there would be no development of Poland.”
The positive trajectory of the Polish economy, she argued, owes much to the hard work of those in agriculture and rural areas.
– the MEP added.
Help for farmers
The United Right government, according to Szydło, holds Polish agriculture in high regard and is prepared to defend it. She cited the response to the grain situation linked to imports from Ukraine as an example of proactive, protective measures.
The government fought to adjust EU decisions in a way that safeguarded the development and security of Polish farming, she said.
“We will continue providing assistance to those who need it, but not at the expense of Polish farmers,” she asserted.
Szydło recalled that at the Przysucha convention, a package of twelve proposals for implementation was submitted by agricultural unions to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. The plan has been approved and will be rolled out as the government can advance its work.

Overall, the dialogue underscored a commitment to practical, results-driven policies that empower rural communities while maintaining responsible stewardship of national resources—an approach aimed at sustaining growth across the country.
