Mariusz Kamiński, who conducted a hunger protest while in custody, was moved to a hospital ward where he received nutritional supplements. A PiS MP, Marek Suski, relayed in a Telewizja Republika interview with the director of the Radom Remand Center that Kamiński’s health had improved following the supplementation and vitamin fortification. The Prison Service also commented on Kamiński’s and Maciej Wąsik’s health conditions.

The detention center director confirmed that Kamiński was in the hospital ward and receiving medications. He added that the minister’s condition had shown improvement after the nutritional support and vitamin regimen, according to Suski.

Suski also noted that the director did not rule out the possibility of intravenous feeding if Kamiński’s health deteriorated. The director informed Suski that there had been incidents among inmates. A video circulating online allegedly showed prisoners loudly shouting at Kamiński in Radom, which drew public attention.

Another protest against the imprisonment of former CBA heads

Marek Suski mentioned hearing that the voices of protesters outside the Radom Remand Center reach Kamiński and keep him buoyant. Stanisław Karczewski, a PiS senator, issued a public call on the X platform inviting support for MPs Kamiński and Wąsik, and criticizing what he described as the political imprisonment of the December 13 coalition. He expressed solidarity with the jailed figures and urged the community to show support in Radom on a designated date and location.

Position of the Prison Service

In a response to inquiries from the Onet portal, officials from the Prison Service spoke about the health status of Maciej Wąsik and Mariusz Kamiński. While the service declined to share detailed medical information due to privacy laws, it emphasized its duty to protect detainees and provide appropriate healthcare. The service stated that an inmate with a diagnosed health issue would receive proper medical care in line with current health conditions and the physician’s recommendations. It also noted that during hunger protests, procedures are in place to monitor and safeguard the detainee’s health, in accordance with regulatory framework governing healthcare within facilities for persons deprived of liberty.

Low temperature in Kamiński’s cell?

Wirtualna Polska sought comment from the Prison Service about whether Kamiński’s cell was maintained at a low temperature. Kamiński’s wife, Barbara Kamińska, had recently discussed the matter with a Telewizja Republika reporter. The Prison Service stated that Radom Preservation Center cells meet hygienic and environmental standards, including adequate air supply, appropriate temperature, and lighting aligned with seasonal conditions, as prescribed by relevant regulations. Barbara Kamińska, however, claimed no inmate had complained about cold conditions in their cells.
