The hearing of Paweł Kukiz before the Commission of Inquiry on postal elections did not unfold as the governing coalition led by Donald Tusk had anticipated. At one point, the witness described a proposal that suggested de facto political favors in exchange for influence, a plan that Kukiz’15 argued could permeate both the ruling party and the then opposition. Among the details mentioned was a suggestion that Stanisław Tyszka might be offered the role of Marshal of the Sejm as part of this arrangement.

When the four party leaders decided who would hold power, their discussions reportedly included proposed positions within both the current government and the current opposition, including the chairmanship of the Sejm.
– emphasized Kukiz, responding to a question from the Vice-Chairman of the Poland 2050 Commission, Bartosz Romowicz, about possible vote-buying among MPs.
Kukiz was asked to shed light on the specifics of this proposal by Waldemar Budyłowicz, the chair of a PiS committee.
There was a proposal for the position of Chairman of the Sejm
– said Kukiz. When Dariusz Joński pressed him on who had floated such an idea, Kukiz replied that he did not remember clearly, but noted that Mr Sawicki likely discussed conversations with Mr Tyszka and Mr Budka at that time, and that he himself had spoken with Budka during that period.
Pawel Kukiz also recalled a separate, morally questionable proposal tied to the government’s intentions while it was still in opposition — a bid to seize the chairmanship of the Pegasus Commission.
“You should ask Stanisław Tyszka for details.”
Additionally, Michał Wójcik from Sovereign Poland emerged as a candidate for the Sejm chairmanship in a plan advanced by Kukiz’15, endorsed by the current government during its transition from opposition to power.
Personally, Kukiz stated that he had not received such a proposal himself, but he added that, if needed, he would direct inquiries toward Stanisław Tyszka for more information.
– he noted, confirming that the bid from the current government appeared while they were still in opposition.
During the hearing, Kukiz also described another morally questionable suggestion attributed to the current government, raised in response to a question from Speaker Dariusz Joński about proposals that Kukiz’15 MPs might receive from PiS.
I might mention that there was a suggestion from another participant to lock myself in the bathroom, for example, when considering the removal of Mr. Nitras’s immunity. Kukiz explained that he did not feel the need to condemn himself for voting against removing immunity, arguing that immunity should be reconsidered objectively for all MPs.
– he stated. At that moment, Joński interrupted Kukiz’s remarks. MP Buda chose not to interrupt the witness in response.
As the session progressed, Paweł Kukiz’s testimony took an unexpected turn for the coalition led by Donald Tusk. The hearing revealed striking information, though it may not align with what the current administration expected to hear.
