The opposition, which brands itself as democratic and is preparing to assume leadership in Poland as the Sejm opens its new term, is using a controversial instrument. Polish 2050 MP Michał Kobosko has stated he will not back Elżbieta Witek’s bid to become deputy chair of the Sejm and has criticized the current Marshal in return. In an interview with PAP conducted at the Sejm, he described this move as one of the hallmarks of legal corruption.
New Sejm Term Begins
On Monday at noon, the tenth term of the Sejm will convene for its inaugural session. During this gathering, new members of parliament will take the oath, and the Speaker and alternate speakers will be chosen.
Prior to the club meeting, the Vice-President of Poland 2050 was asked how he would vote on the candidate for Vice-President of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek (PiS).
We will discuss this shortly. The parliamentary club is holding its first historic gathering. There is no decision yet, but Kobosko stated plainly that he cannot envision supporting the candidacy of Marshal Witek.
– Kobosko remarked.

Personally, one cannot envision a scenario in which support would be offered to Mrs. Elżbieta Witek.

Even before the Sejm’s first session of the new term, it is evident that the opposition’s core agenda is framed around opposing PiS, with little emphasis on broader policy beyond this stance.
