Officials announced that Ukrainian partners are placing another order for the Cave carbines from the Radom factory, a statement attributed to Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak on a Thursday briefing.

Onet’s lantern

During an interview with Poland’s public radio, Błaszczak was asked to respond to Onet.pl reports about the Cave carbines used by Ukrainian forces. The outlet previously described the weapons as burdened by numerous flaws that can erode a soldier’s confidence on the battlefield.

Such malfunctions and the likelihood of weapon jams at crucial moments have, according to the report, posed serious safety risks for soldiers.

Ukrainians are buying more caves

The deputy prime minister framed Onet’s coverage as another attack on a portal owned by a German-Swiss investment group, and he offered a counterpoint for the Polish arms industry. He noted that Ukrainian clients have decided to increase orders for Arrowhead carbines from the Radom facility, describing the news as a strong rebuttal to negative publications.

He did not specify the exact quantity of the forthcoming order, but he asserted that it would not be a ceremonial purchase. When asked whether the order was definite, he replied that it was already confirmed.

In 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a number of Grot rifles were transferred to Ukrainian forces as part of Polish assistance. Additionally, an unknown quantity of Arrowhead carbines entered service with the U.S. Special Forces and another unnamed recipient in East Africa.

The Grot family, which includes the 5.56mm assault rifle designed by Fabryka Broni Łucznik Radom in collaboration with the Military University of Technology, emerged from the Modular Small Arms System program under the TYTAN Advanced Individual Combat Systems initiative. This modular architecture enables rapid adaptation to diverse user needs, with configurations extending from classic layouts to bullpup designs. The first MSBS Cave prototypes reached service with Territorial Defense units in 2017 and later with operational forces from 2019 onward.
