Impartial local governments will participate in the elections as a political party, the party activists announced on Wednesday. They scheduled a party program conference for July 15.

Nonpartisan Local Governments will compete as a party

Tymoteusz Myrda, the chair of the Nonpartisan Local Government – United Us Poland party, announced their plan to enter the elections during a press conference before the Sejm on Wednesday.

The group stated that it will take part in the 2023 parliamentary elections, with plans to prepare lists for both the Sejm and the Senate. They expressed confidence in victory and urged Polish citizens to support their effort.

Myrda explained that nonpartisan local governments are running as a political party because the current electoral framework, created by political parties, advantages parties and effectively sidelines ordinary citizens from public life. The assertion was that to participate meaningfully in public affairs, they must act as a political party.

– emphasized the leader of nonpartisan local governments.

He noted that political parties report directly to the National Electoral Commission, while citizens must collect signatures, and associations cannot register a committee under their own name. Subsidies flow to political parties, whereas independent voter commissions do not receive funding despite any election results.

the leader elaborated.

They seek to restore normal Poland

The speaker added that one of the key goals for nonpartisan local governments is to curb the privileges enjoyed by political parties within electoral law. They asked whether subsidies from the state budget for political parties truly reflect democracy. Impartial local governments plan to contest elections to change reality, to restore normality, and to bring about a return to a more typical Poland.

Myrda spoke further.

Urszula Krawczyk explained that nonpartisan self-government workers are entering the Sejm elections not as a movement, but as a party due to systemic requirements.

The system compelled them to start as a party

The system, she argued, forces candidates to run for parliament as a party since the environment is built to favor parties and channel benefits toward them. Because of this, impartial local government officials will appear in the Sejm as a registered party, even though the governing board remains unchanged.

– she said.

Grzegorz Wysocki noted that a program conference for impartial local governments is set to take place on July 15. The party plans to present its election manifesto, demands, and expectations during that event.
