Former US permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, told voters that President Joe Biden should consider stepping down after US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was hospitalized, according to reports on Fox News channel.
Haley voiced a confident stance in a political gathering, saying it’s hard to accept the current state of affairs. She emphasized ongoing global tensions, noting a war in Europe and another in the Middle East, and pointing to North Korea’s successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile that could threaten the United States. She argued that these security challenges are compounded by leadership choices, suggesting Biden’s approach has left the country more vulnerable and exposed to risk.
Haley, who previously served as the United States ambassador to the United Nations, is seeking the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election, positioning herself as an alternative voice on national security and foreign policy.
Earlier, Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder announced that Lloyd Austin had been moved out of intensive care but remained in the hospital. Ryder stressed that the prognosis for recovery remains positive and that the team will continue to monitor his condition closely as part of the ongoing medical management.
