Monika Pawłowska announced to reporters in the Sejm that she has assumed her parliamentary mandate. She described a conversation with Marshal Szymon Hołownia as part of that moment, signaling a transition that would soon be formalized through an oath of office.

To officially become a member of parliament, Pawłowska must first take the oath.

She stated that she felt aligned with the PiS group and, after taking the oath, would like to join the club of PiS members.

The politician noted that no agreement had yet been reached on the oath date.

If the PiS club does not accept her membership, after previously agreeing that the Sejm President would propose successors for the seats formerly held by MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, she plans to remain an unaffiliated parliamentarian.

It’s not for me to judge

She expressed trust that a letter from the Chairman of the Sejm would carry legal weight.

When queried about PiS’s stance on Kamiński and Wąsik, she replied that it is not her place to judge.

Pawłowska also conveyed appreciation for Minister Kamiński, noting that she understood from coverage that he would run for the European Parliament and that she would do everything possible to support that outcome.

She spoke directly to journalists, emphasizing her commitment to the cause and her readiness to assist where possible.

The swearing-in timing and party alignment

Pawłowska clarified that she would not be sworn in during tomorrow’s Sejm session.

Her political journey shows a series of realignments: she first secured a mandate as a ninth-term Sejm member on the Democratic Left Alliance list under the Wiosna banner, later becoming vice-president of the left-wing parliamentary club. In 2021 she left the Wiosna movement, joining Jarosław Gowin’s agreement and becoming unaffiliated.

Later in September 2021, she left the Agreement group and announced her intention to join the Law and Justice parliamentary club, later formalizing membership with PiS. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, she stood on PiS lists and received 10,789 votes, earning a place on the ballot with a mandate still in question.
