North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has returned to Pyongyang after a six‑day journey to Russia, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
KCNA reports that on the morning of September 18, Kim boarded a special train at Tumangang border railway station near the Russian frontier as part of his travel back home.
The agency noted that Kim Jong Un’s most recent trip to Russia further solidified the friendship between the leadership and people of both nations and reinforced ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin and with Russia as a whole. The visit is described as opening a new chapter in Korean–Russian relations.
Earlier in the return phase, after concluding what was termed an official and friendly visit to the Russian Federation, Kim Jong Un expressed gratitude to President Putin, to Russian authorities, and to the Russian people for their hospitality as he prepared to depart by special train from Vladivostok.
During September 11 to September 17, Kim Jong Un traveled to Russia by train to meet with President Putin. The two leaders then met again at the Vostochny Cosmodrome on September 13, signaling high‑level discussions and cooperative rhetoric from both sides.
