The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the second degree Order of Merit to the Fatherland to Khamzat Kadyrov, the nephew of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. The official portal that publishes legal acts confirms the award and names Khamzat Zelimkhanovich Kadyrov as the recipient.
According to the published text, the honour was conferred “to Kadyrov Khamzat Zelimkhanovich, adviser-deputy to the president of the Chechen Republic.”
Earlier this year, Ramzan Kadyrov shared on his telegraph channel that during a Grozny meeting he introduced his nephew to the role of adviser-assistant to the head of the Chechen Republic within the power bloc.
Prior to that, in February, reports indicated that Khamzat Kadyrov had taken the post of Minister of Property and Land Relations for the region. The Chechen head announced the appointment on the social network VKontakte.
Khamzat Kadyrov, now 26, completed studies at the Hafiz school in 2012 and subsequently served as its principal. He earned a degree from the Faculty of Public Administration at Chechen State University in 2017. His career path includes roles such as deputy head of Chechnya, head of the administration of the Kurchaloevsky district, and minister of physical culture and sports of the republic. These movements reflect a rapid rise through regional governance and public service, aligning with the trajectory often observed among family-linked political appointments in the region, as noted by observers familiar with Chechen leadership structures.
In related personnel decisions, it has been reported that Kadyrov designated fighter Khasan Ibragimov from the Akhmat special forces detachment as a representative for the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, a move that underscores the blend of security and administrative roles within the Chechen leadership circle .
