Combating environmental crime

The chief of police was also asked about the garbage fire in Zielona Góra. He affirmed strong involvement in securing the scene and supporting the remarkable work of state fire services. The possibility of deploying a Black Hawk helicopter was noted only as a contingency, should the situation require it. [Citation: wPolityce]

Grounded in prior exercises and ongoing cooperation with the fire brigade, the force is prepared to bring in extinguishing equipment from air operation systems such as a bamboo bucket style device. The general also highlighted a significant issue with illegal dumping. To address this, persistent work has targeted organized criminal groups involved in such practices. Much of the responsibility lies with the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police and the Economic Department that oversees environmental crimes. [Citation: wPolityce]

As part of the police modernization program, additional posts have been created and the economic department dedicated to environmental crime has been strengthened by 150 positions.
