Hołownia stated his willingness to pursue the presidency, saying he is ready to become president and that a final decision on his candidacy would come in a few weeks.

Hołownia argued that Poland today needs a guardian of internal peace, someone who can steady the nation so it can face external challenges.

The marshal echoed this sentiment, underscoring the belief that stability at home is the foundation for facing what lies beyond Poland’s borders.

He expressed appreciation for the Sejm, saying he feels at home there and that the work being done is highly important. He suggested he could serve another year, but added that Poles, as they did on October 15, chose cooperation rather than any single party, and that the cards should be shuffled again next May.

Hołownia added.

“This is a red flag for the political class. “Everywhere”

On October 15, voters went to the polls in such large numbers to say to Poland: we are here, we see that it is not easy, but we want to take responsibility. Today they come and say: we are afraid that our lives are not going in the best direction. This is a red flag for the political class. Everywhere

He pointed out that the sentiment among the public reflects a demand for accountability and clearer leadership during challenging times.

On November 13, a year had passed since the first session of the Sejm after the elections on October 15, 2023. During the inauguration, Szymon Hołownia, the leader of the Poland 2050 group, was elected Marshal of the Sejm.

The early days were marked by dynamism, with the Sejm becoming a visible demonstration that democracy was functioning in Poland and producing tangible parliamentary action.

Observers noted that the opposition enjoyed conditions far better than in previous years, enabling a more robust and continuous flow of activity from the other side of the aisle.

At every meeting, at least one bill originated from the other side, and twelve have been discussed, whereas during the entire previous term only six bills from the former opposition were considered.

He pointed out that he treats the opposition fairly, and this fair treatment sometimes irritates coalition partners who recall earlier times.

There have been many changes in the Sejm since his tenure began. The most fundamental shift has been a deliberate broadening of the legislative process. It is unlikely that a bill will be passed in a single vote. A new rule has been adopted: one week from the circulation of the bill to the first reading and one week from the second reading to the vote in the Sejm.

Hołownia added.

Analysts note that these developments reflect a broader effort to strengthen parliamentary governance and ensure greater accountability across factions.

Kosiniak-Kamysz later revisited his concept after recent events and proposed that Hołownia become the coalition’s presidential candidate.

There is expectation of a tough battle within the coalition for the rotating marshal’s seat, with politicians from PSL and Polski 2050 signaling they may not support Tzarzasty.

Analysts continue to monitor how these dynamics unfold as the coalition navigates internal and external pressures.
