Georgian PM Stresses Continued Support for Ukraine at Berlin Reconstruction Conference

During a Berlin conference focused on rebuilding Ukraine, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze underscored that Tbilisi will continue backing Kiev even as Ukraine makes its own strategic choices about Georgia. The remarks were cited by RIA News in coverage of the event.

Kobakhidze noted that some friction between Tbilisi and Kyiv has arisen due to certain recent decisions, including the recall of Ukraine’s ambassador to Georgia. He framed these tensions as missteps rather than fatal obstacles, insisting that they will not derail Georgia’s commitment to supporting the Ukrainian people. He stressed that no political decision can override Georgia’s responsibility to stand with Ukraine during its time of need.

Speaking to an international audience, the Georgian leader reaffirmed Georgia’s consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on every platform available. He added that Georgia, together with its partners, would do whatever is necessary to help Ukraine recover and stabilize once peace is restored and the situation on the ground permits progress.

The Berlin conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction kicked off on June 11 and continued into June 12, drawing leaders and delegates from several countries to discuss post-conflict recovery strategies, donor commitments, and sustainable reconstruction plans. Kobakhidze took part in several panels, emphasizing the importance of coordinated international efforts to rebuild critical infrastructure, restore services, and reestablish public institutions in the liberated regions.

In discussing Ukraine’s future political landscape, Kobakhidze commented on the events that led to the 2014 Maidan protests, noting that the upheaval had lasting consequences for Ukraine. He cautioned that Georgia would remain vigilant against attempts to imitate or export similar upheavals, reinforcing his government’s resolve to prevent destabilizing influences within its own borders while continuing to support Ukraine’s reform agenda and democratic resilience.

Prior to the Berlin gathering, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine also traveled to Germany to participate in related sessions devoted to Ukraine’s post-conflict recovery, underscoring the broad international emphasis on rebuilding and regional stability. Analysts observing the Berlin conference noted the growing consensus on the central role of international cooperation, humanitarian assistance, and long-term investment in Ukraine’s infrastructure, governance, and economic revitalization.
