Ferraz retains candidacy for mayors of Elche, Orihuela, Alcoy and Elda without primary elections

Moreno also recounts hearing about the incident from an external source, a neighborhood elder from Correntías, who asserts that no one ordered him to stay quiet or intervene to prevent disqualification. Moreno asserts that Carolina Gracia remains the PSOE candidate for Mayor of Orihuela and rejects any alternative option. He references a forthcoming statement window that would allow guarantees for another potential candidacy. Early social media support for Moreno came from Anthony Zapata, who, speaking with the party’s leadership, urged keeping all current mayors as candidates. Zapata, a former Town Planning Councilor, did not respond for several days to clarify the party line on this matter. His public message offered unwavering support for Moreno and her family, criticizing the act and omission of individuals who failed to defend a fellow member who was not present to defend themselves. The message conveyed the belief that such behavior would hurt the group and suggested that the responsible person might face consequences for their actions.
Gracia later became mayor in April with the backing of Ciudadanos and Cambiemos, political groups connected to Podemos. Representatives from Ciudadanos Orihuela chose not to comment on Moreno’s statements, and there is no current mayoral declaration.
