Diputación de Alicante is mobilizing an urgent aid package to support municipalities hit by the Vall d’Ebo fire. The blaze, which has affected more than one locality and scorched roughly 12,000 hectares in the northern part of the province, prompted a provincial meeting at the Provincial Palace. The purpose was to set immediate steps to repair public infrastructure and provide technical advisory services as quickly as possible.

Attending the meeting were first vice president Julia Parra and several deputies: Alejandro Morant for Highways, Environment; Miguel Ángel Sánchez for Architecture; José Ramón González de Zárate for Social Services; Mari Carmen Jover for Contracting; Juan de Dios Navarro and Patrimony and the Treasury; and María Gómez, along with José Antonio Belso, director of SUMA.

Firefighters reported that the Vall d’Ebo fire had stabilized after suppressing remaining pockets of flame.

At the session, an action plan was outlined to ensure immediate attention from Diputación to the affected towns. The primary measures include repairing or replacing road signs and plates damaged by the fire across provincial routes, and technical teams are evaluating road surfaces and conditions in the affected areas.

“The Provincial Assembly is making all of its resources available to the affected municipalities. Relief and funding mechanisms will be coordinated across Emergencies, Roads, Water Cycle, Environment, Social Services, and SUMA to mitigate the fire’s impact,” stated the Head of Roads, Alejandro Morant.

In environmental terms, actions will focus on restoring vegetation, preventing soil erosion, and safeguarding biodiversity. The Provincial Council already offers subsidies and other forms of aid to prepare fire-prevention plans, as explained by district legislator Miguel Ángel Sánchez.

“Once the initial assessment is complete and the needs identified by Diputación technicians and consular teams are understood, we will establish channels with the ministries responsible for natural environments and agriculture to coordinate the necessary actions,” Sánchez added.

Furthermore, Diputación is coordinating work in projects that support the recovery of fire-affected areas through European Union-funded programs, as noted by regional deputy Maria Gomez.

More than a hundred personnel are currently engaged in firefighting operations, with 35 vehicles and three aircraft from the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium, and three aircraft and forestry specialists from the Generalitat Valenciana, contributing to the stabilization efforts observed earlier today.
