The national aide, Edmund Honey, announced plans to form his party in Alicante this Monday amid calls for a congressional inquiry into possible vote purchase in Melilla. Behind him stood Morocco’s government, while Honey visited the city with Jose Miguel Saval, the candidate for the autonomous formations, and Adrián Santos Pérez, the mayor of Alicante.

The party’s regional representative used the Alicante stop to lay out electoral ground and respond to ongoing campaigns. The People’s Party has been highlighted as the useful vote option by opponents, a label Bal rejected outright. He questioned whether casting a vote for a party means real reform when that party may not adopt the reforms proposed by the opposition after taking office.

As a result, the deputy noted that despite the PP’s periods of absolute majorities, few reforms have materialized. He criticized leadership under Alberto Núñez Feijóo for not reforming key areas such as election law, retirement sustainability, housing plans, and broader guarantees beyond simple measures from the Instituto de Crédito Oficial. He argued the central government failed to address fundamental issues properly, including squatting.

Honey also drew other national forces into the debate, portraying their proposals as a bid to topple Sánchez. A Ciudadanos MP dismissed the claim, asking whether Sánchez had faced any court cases at municipal or regional levels. Shortly after this exchange, Honey shifted focus to criticizing the head of government for spending surplus tax revenue rather than returning it to citizens in the form of lower taxes or direct relief, suggesting such actions could be used to buy votes.

Bal framed much of his message against the central government with a direct appeal to voters. He told the audience that the Spanish voter is discerning and would not be swayed by appeals to youth mobility programs in difficult times. The Liberal nominee for President of the Generalitat, Jose Miguel Saval, emphasized the importance of local and regional colleagues protecting Alicante and keeping it as a leading example of good governance. He highlighted Bal’s commitment to unity, seriousness, and opposition to sectarianism and radicalism.

Representatives of Ciudadanos greeted supporters upon arrival at Plaza de los Luceros. The scene underscored a determined effort to project a collaborative, city-first approach in which local actions drive national influence. The Alicante mayor, Adrián Santos Pérez, reiterated the national deputy’s dedication to the city and province through concrete measures endorsed by the municipal group, insisting that these measures align with a broader vision for Alicante’s future.

On the table for municipal leadership are steps to coordinate urban planning, mobility, and transport while improving the overall quality of life for all residents. The agenda stresses cross district cooperation, sustainable policy, and inclusive initiatives designed to balance the needs of different neighborhoods and ensure steady progress for the local community.
