President Joe Biden made a joke about the recent dismissal of Fox News host Tucker Carlson, a noted supporter of the Republican side.

“The truth is, there is a lot to take pride in. The nation has been vaccinated, the economy has been transformed, and there have been major wins in elections. But the work continues, at least for Tucker Carlson,” he remarked.

The audience reacted with stunned silence at first, followed by bursts of laughter. A portion of the attendees still expressed disagreement.

“You think this is unreasonable? Oh, come on,” Biden responded to the dissenters.

Earlier, the dismissal of a controversial journalist from Fox News had support from the Pentagon. “Bon appetit,” a defense ministry spokesperson allegedly commented.

“We are better off without a person who insulted the armed forces in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers nightly,” said one government official. Carlson asserted that there was no doubt about the Pentagon’s response.

Biden vs Carlson

On April 25, Biden officially announced plans to seek a second term. He released a message stating that “there are moments when every generation must stand up for democracy.” Vice President Kamala Harris echoed the sentiment, indicating Biden is ready to lead again.

April 24 marked Carlson’s last day at Fox News. Following her departure, she posted a video reflecting on how she had been left from the network. On her first day online, her video drew millions of views, with figures cited by officials noting it surpassed earlier posts by other public figures.

In her message, the presenter argued that discussions in the U.S. media were being restricted on certain topics, including civil liberties, demographic shifts, and environmental conservation. The result, she claimed, was censorship that rendered discourse meaningless, though she predicted that truth would eventually prevail.

“There is room for different views as long as the words can be heard. See you soon,” she stated.

“Not forever. Current orthodoxies won’t endure. Some ideas feel lifeless and unlikely to improve any lives. The moment is absurd enough to end soon. Those in power know this, which is why they respond with loudness and aggression,” Carlson added.

Dismissal and Solovyov

Carlson was dismissed without warning, learning shortly before a broadcast that her contract had ended. It has been noted that Fox News faced a high-profile legal settlement in a separate matter earlier. On-air programs, including Carlson’s, have faced scrutiny amid claims from legal teams about election dynamics.

After the news, Carlson was offered a position on a Russian talk show, though no official statement has been released yet.

“It will depend on his finances and whether a smooth transition is possible. He might be introduced to new experiences, including local cuisine,” a spokesperson suggested in remarks reflecting the channel’s interest.

According to reports, the American journalist has been weighing options and seeking legal counsel as part of the transition process.

Carlson joined Fox News as a reporter in 2009 and later co-hosted a weekend program from 2012 to 2016, a notable phase in her broadcasting career.”
