Questions about how many polling places will be set up at 28M, how many people will occupy them, and where campaigns can take place are answered as Benidorm begins detailing election logistics. Just under a month into the municipal and district elections, the city is sharing specifics on voting day procedures and rally sites, among other arrangements. It is planned that 711 individuals will be assigned to each of 79 ballot boxes operating throughout the city. In addition, 16 buildings and open spaces have been designated for public political activities.
During an extraordinary general meeting held this Tuesday, the City Council conducted a draw to assign chairs and members to each polling station. In total, nine electoral officials are chosen for every table: one presiding officer, two substitutes, plus two members and four substitutes. Following the draw, the local government will begin notifying the selected positions at each table about their roles.
In Benidorm’s 28M election, participation will include 43,991 voters, 42,599 residents, and 1,392 foreigners. A total of 79 polling stations will be spread across 46 electoral divisions within 16 colleges.
Municipal elections in Benidorm: more voters for 28M, fewer foreigners and changes in three schools
Data from the Statistics Office show that the largest polling station can accommodate up to 943 voters, while the smallest will host around 339. Notably, a voter who turns 18 on election day may still cast a ballot if eligible.

Ahead of election day, parties maintain a packed schedule of rallies and activities. A total of 16 public spaces are available for open political campaigns in the city. The Vila Joiosa District Electoral Board has published an updated list of locations for this cycle, building on options used in prior elections.
New venues such as the Julio Iglesias Auditorium and Óscar Esplà Auditorium, both within l’Aigüera Park, have been added to the roster of permissible sites. The Raúl Mesa pavilion remains unavailable due to ongoing construction.
Other accessible spaces include Plazas Prelado Antonio Bayona, Constitución, L’Infant and Sanz Hermitage. Additional choices cover streets and public areas around the Castellana area and neighborhoods such as Ametlla de Mar, Alcoy, Vicente Llorca Alós and Madrid. Areas near El Gambo, the Fester’s house and the Imalsa complex, along with the José Llorca Llinares social center and Foietes park auditorium, are also listed as potential campaign venues.
Campaign events may run from 19:00 to 23:00, with the social center permitting activities only until 21:45, as noted by the Election Board. The PP party opened one of these spaces first, presenting Toni Pérez’s candidacy on Monday, May 1, at the Hermitage of Sanz. PSOE is scheduled to hold an event this Thursday at Foietes Park. For poster placement, permitted locations include the gate near Elche Park and a 200-square-meter area nearby, with other parts of the city restricted for postings.
