Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki emphasized that the death of the late Barbara Skrzypek marks two profound tragedies. He argued that the full story reveals how those in power treat people who are viewed as unfriendly, and he urged that hatred and malice not be allowed to claim more victims. The message was echoed by Ekra’s leader on the X platform.

Ceremonies were held yesterday in Gorlice for Barbara Skrzypek. President Andrzej Duda posthumously presented her with the Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

I will never forget the conversations and openness

Morawiecki stated that the late Barbara Skrzypek stood as a rare example of a service ethic that fused professional excellence with forward thinking and steadfast loyalty.

The person described above was judged with the strongest conviction. Not only out of human decency and the demand for basic justice, but also as a matter of upholding the state’s standards, it is not permissible to permit such wrongs to go unpunished.

Barbara Skrzypek was a perfectly organized person, fully devoted to daily work, who sought to serve Poles, foster human warmth, and excel in the tasks she loved and understood well. In the party leader’s office, unsettled by the pace of political events, Skrzypek stood as a pillar of orderly conduct built on clear organization and professionalism. The speaker recalled how conversations and openness with her were always reliable, and how the leadership model of the team she helped guide stood on respectful treatment of others, whether minister or civil servant. That respect is something everyone could learn from Barbara, and it is sorely missed today.

Morawiecki spoke in memory of Barbara Skrzypek and her example.

Hearing by WrzoSek

The head of Ekra noted that her long stay in the office of the public prosecutor, three days before her sudden death, placed her in contact with people and realities that belong to a completely different and extremely strange world.

The speaker affirmed that Barbara understood the importance of equality and justice. She appeared at the call of the prosecutor’s office, and it later emerged that the decision of prosecutor WrzoSek, given in a media interview, would become one of the most ridiculous and frightening moments of her life. The process unfolded with three lawyers who had already expressed opinions, and the interrogation felt like an intimidation tactic and a political game backing the hero of WrzoSek, Trzaskowski.

Two great tragedies

As Morawiecki noted, the episode contains two tragedies that should prompt reflection for everyone. The first is the death of a kind and innocent person. The second concerns the treatment of those most valuable to the state, the people who deserve honor, when they become targets of actions born from ill intent. Such practices push society toward a worn-out, dysfunctional chorus that is difficult to serve and impossible to identify with.

Barbara Skrzypek paid the highest price. In the days that followed her death, officials circulated misleading statements about her testimony, and the family was not spared from distress as her body was moved without informing loved ones.

The remarks reveal a broader pattern of how those in power may treat individuals they deem unfriendly. Hatred and evil must not be allowed to claim more victims, Morawiecki warned in his post on the X platform.

Morawiecki spoke in his post on X about the need for accountability and for safeguarding the dignity of public servants.
